A Nautical Fourth

American Rover

Classic Yacht

Battleship Wisconsin

I would like to wish everyone a great Fourth of July and hope yours is safe and fun. If you are not American, or otherwise do not celebrate - have a great day anyway. I am headed to the nursery for a few hours of early morning watering, and then to the beach.

(Truth be told, I would welcome all of my plans to be ruined by rain today, Monday too. It is so beyond dry here.)

  2. Your first photo is luminous! It's saved from a cliche by the sunbeams spotlighting the flag, and the outline of a ghostly full moon. Happy American Independence back at ya!

  4. I'm with you any day of the year-bring on the rain. The water there looks most inviting!

  6. I was in Virginia over the 4th - Charlottesville was terribly dry too, with no rain in site and even warmer temperatures. Hope you get some rain soon.

  7. Thanks to everyone for commenting, I hope you all had a great holiday. We finally got some rain yesterday, the plants are happy.

Tina, if you ever come to Norfolk DO NOT go in that water. The Elizabeth River is one of the most polluted in the country, although it is getting better.

  9. Hi I was in Norfolk for the 4th as well. We watched the fireworks from the flight deck of the USS Bataan. I think that is the ship in the background of your picture...not sure though.
